Aged Care Legislation changes- delayed!

You may recall that last week ASMOF and other members of the NSW Aged Care Roundtable wrote to Minister Hazzard urging the NSW Government to maintain provisions in the NSW Public Health Act 2010 which set minimum staffing standards for NSW nursing homes. Section 104 of the Act requires there to be a registered nurse on duty in nursing homes at all times.

The NSW Nurses and Midwives Association have informed us this week that the repeal has been delayed from September 2019 to 2020 (see attached).

We will continue to advocate for suitable aged care staffing.
