ASMOF Meeting with NSW Minister for Health

ASMOF has secured a meeting with the Hon. Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard, and MP for Kiama, Gareth Ward, to discuss the potential privatisation of Shellharbour and Port Kembla on Thursday 19 October 2017.

Two senior clinicians, alongside nurses, allied health and community members will meet at Parliament House to discuss the impacts privatisation will have on the ability for staff to continue to provide high-level care, reductions and limitations on their conditions and entitlements, and the flow on effects to the patients that rely on their services and expertise.

We note earlier this year, our Doctors met with Mr Hazzard and Mr Ward, and that the meeting was very productive, but our Doctors made it clear they are committed to fighting the privatisation of our hospitals to protect the safe patient care standards that exist in our world class public health system.

We are hopeful the Minister is willing to listen to our members who work tirelessly to protect and strengthen our public hospitals, and keep Shellharbour and Port Kembla Hospitals in public hands.
