ASMOF members join Union campaign for PPE

Unions NSW is running a Safe Workers, Healthy NSW” campaign to call on the Government to step up and guarantee Personal Protective Equipment for all essential workers.

On May 6 ASMOF member Dr Paul Pham took part in Unions NSW Online Town Hall to highlight issues for doctors including PPE supply. Dr Pham is an Anaesthetics Registrar at John Hunter Hospital who has been leading the ground efforts to improve access to PPE and promote fit testing. Dr Pham also drew attention to the stress induced by inadequate and incorrectly fitted PPE, saying that ‘Healthcare workers go to work every day to provide excellent healthcare to patients. We deserve to be protected”. You can watch the recording here.

Dr Pham has also spoken about why fit testing is important and the need to implement this in NSW:

ASMOF and Unions NSW have been working around the clock to ensure that our governments and hospitals are doing everything possible to provide doctors with the PPE you need as quickly as possible. We know that supplies are being delivered across the state, but we also know there are still concerns around access in many areas.

Two things you can do to help guarantee the supply and production of #PPE for all essential workers in NSW

  1. Sign the petition to the NSW Premier
  2. Call or Email the NSW Government and tell them to step up and guarantee PPE for all essential workers. Use Unions NSW's calling and email tools here:

Please remember to lodge any PPE concerns you have on ASMOF’s PPE Watch page:
