ASMOF Safe Workplaces and Office Accommodation Working Group

ASMOF has established a Safe Workplaces and Office Accommodation Working Group to help guide our industrial and organising strategies around office accommodation and safe workplaces.

The lack of appropriate office accommodation for Staff Specialists in the NSW public health system an unacceptable risk to the health, productivity, safety and privacy of doctors, but is also a risk to patient safety and confidentiality.

The COVID-19 pandemic has laid bare the concerns that we have has raised about activity-based working or open plan workspaces for members. All workers have the right to a healthy and safe working environment. Open plan offices pose dangerous risks for COVID-19 transmission, made even more dangerous when implemented in a hospital environment.

In June we held a virtual meeting on this issue and members made it clear that a business as usual approach is untenable until a vaccine is widely available.
