Doctors & nurses united in call for action at Blacktown

Staff actions have continued at Blacktown this week, with nurses walking off the job yesterday before being ordered back to work by the Industrial Relations Commission.

The Doctors Union support nurses right to strike at Blacktown Hospital due to their concerns about patient safety. Doctors and nurses are united in our call for the NSW Government to urgently address staffing shortages at Blacktown Hospital so that medical staff can do their job properly and safely.

As we wrote about last week, ASMOF has been advocating for proper staffing at the Hospital since September, after members contacted their Union to report unreasonable workloads. Only 1 trainee doctor was covering the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department on evening and night shifts before ASMOF intervened.
