ISLHD: Proposed Restructure Radiology and Nuclear Medicine

ASMOF has received correspondence from Peter Turner, District Manager, Illawarra Shoalhaven Medical Imaging Service (‘ISMI’) regarding proposed changes to the structure of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine services in the ISLHD.  Specifically, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine services are to be amalgamated within a single management structure that will sit within ISMI.

The proposed structure would see the day to day operation of these services continue to be managed by the respective Chief Radiographers based at Wollongong, Shellharbour and Nowra, with the inclusion of Nuclear Medicine managed by the Chief Technologist at Wollongong; all reporting to the District Manager, Medical Imaging.

ISMI advise that these proposed changes have the potential to affect ASMOF members at Nuclear Medicine services (managed within the Wollongong Hospital structure) and Radiology departments at Wollongong, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven Hospitals.    Following further clarification with Peter Turner, the only impact on ASMOF members will be a change in the reporting lines for the Clinical Director of Nuclear medicine and Clinical Director  Radiology.

Please find the relevant correspondence attached, which is accompanied by the current organisational charts for both Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and the proposed Organisational chart under the new structure.

You will note that the correspondence requests that ASMOF respond by close of business 1/12/17.  ASMOF has sort an extension of time to close of business Friday 8/12/17 to respond in order to consult with our members and receive feedback regarding the proposed changes.

If you have any comments and concerns regarding the proposed structural changes to Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Services, please email to Kerrie Seymour by close of business Wednesday 6 December 2017.

Depending on members’ feedback, ASMOF may request a Union Specific Consultative Meeting (‘USCC’) in the near future.
