May Day 2020 - Friday 1 May

ASMOF invites all members to May Day 2020, an online event hosted by Unions NSW on Friday 1 May.

May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, is celebrated in Australia and around the world. It’s a day to remember the struggles of workers to gain basic rights and rally together to sustain our rights at work and in our communities.

This year's May Day event will address the threats to the health and prosperity of the working people during the coronavirus pandemic.

At the heart of May Day is the principle of solidarity. This has been evidenced by the medical workers battling exhaustion to keep patients alive, and the aged care, retail workers, teachers, prison officers and transport workers, to mention just a few, risking their own health for broader social cohesion. Even the enthusiastic adoption of social distancing has demonstrated real world solidarity.

This May Day will be an online live stream.

The livestream includes workers, music from Brad Bros, and an arts competition for the kids. Speakers include:

- Sharan Burrow, ITUC

- Sally McManus, ACTU

- Mark Morey, Unions NSW

ASMOF would like to invite all doctors in NSW to participate and contribute to the rebuilding of our economy and restoring the social fabric of our society.
