NSW Health Disciplinary Policy

15-Nov-2013

Changes back on the table after recent contact from the Ministry.

ASMOF received this week a revised draft from the Ministry that follows the response provided to them on 2 August 2013 by ASMOF after receiving member feedback.  A further meeting is to be scheduled with public health unions to discuss this latest iteration of the policy from the Ministry.  At the time of writing this update, a review was still being undertaken on the changes/additions made by the Ministry from the previous draft policy, let alone the dozen or so guidelines to accompany any new policy.

Background

Much of the feedback provided in August not unexpectedly reiterated the ASMOF response provided to the Ministry in 2011 when a previous draft was first distributed to public health unions for consideration.

The matter went into abeyance after the original approach in 2011 until the Ministry returned to the issue, spurred by amendments earlier this year to the Health Services Act that now permits for the first time suspension without pay (under certain circumstances) in the NSW Health Service.
