PGY1 transitioning to PGY2 at the start of the clinical year

ASMOF is aware that last year’s interns at Concord Hospital did not progress through to the resident medical officer pay scale at the beginning of the 2018 clinical year due to delays with APHRA general registration.

Consistent with an agreement reached between ASMOF and the Ministry of Health last year, for hospitals where they had indicated to AHPRA that interns had met the requirements for general registration, those affected medical officers are to be treated as RMOs from the beginning of the clinical year regardless of processing delays and paid accordingly. Furthermore, this date should be recorded as the doctor's incremental date for future years.

We understand this has now been rectified at Concord after ASMOF involvement. However, if you are aware of any other hospital taking this approach, can you please notify our office.
