PRINT Conference NSW/ACT

The Pre-Internship (PRINT) Conference is the premier academic event for graduating medical students, an innovative medical education project designed to equip final year medical students with the necessary practical tips and skills needed before their first year as junior doctors.

The NSW/ACT 2017 PRINT Conference was held at the Sydney Masonic Centre on 28 and 29 October and was supported by the Health Education & Training Institute (HETI) and NSW Health.

On the Saturday afternoon ASMOF gave a presentation on why it is important for junior doctors to know their award and a brief insight into understanding and interpreting their payslips.  The session was well received by the students who had little information about their entitlements and no idea that getting paid appropriately could sometimes be so difficult.  Over the last four years ASMOF has recovered over $7 million dollars in underpayments of wages for Junior Medical Officers (JMOs).

On Sunday Dr Tessa Kennedy, Chair of the ASMOF/AMA Alliance Doctors in Training Committee (DITC) talked about the Hospital Health Check Survey and how junior doctors can get involved and get active in the Alliance and the Union.
