Want to have a say in how your Union is run?

17-Mar-2021

Are you passionate about doctors being treated fairly at work and having safe workplaces? Are you an advocate for a strong public health system?

Nominations to sit on ASMOF NSW Council are opening on 1 April 2021 and we encourage members to nominate. ASMOF is a democratic union and it is important that our Council reflect the diversity of our membership. We encourage all interested members to apply- no specific experience is required.

Councillors have responsibility for the overall direction of the Union and play a key role in enabling the Union to function well in the workplace. They provide an important two way link between the Union office and our members.

As a Councillor you are expected to educate your co-workers about ASMOF campaigns, activities + services that will benefit their working lives, as well as ensuring that the views, concerns and experiences of your cohort are represented at the highest level of the Union.

Councillors also have a role in financial and strategic management of the Union. The key functions are:

  • the management of the affairs of the Union
  • the determination of policy for the Union
  • the making, alteration or rescission of rules of the Union
