Security of Secondment Accommodation

We have received two reports in the last week of DiTs staying in hospital accommodation provided during a period of secondment being broken into and robbed, in different locations. Inadequate security (eg. no locks on windows or doors) has been implicated in some circumstances.

DiTs put up with a lot in the course of their training, but feeling that our personal safety or possessions are at risk while living away from home is not a reasonable expectation. In fact it's completely unacceptable.

If you have had any similar experiences of theft or threat to your security in hospital accommodation, know someone who has or have other significant concerns about secondment accommodation, please get in touch. I need to determine how widespread an issue this is to direct our advocacy. Please send details to or contact The Alliance staff if you need specific assistance or advice for your situation.
