DiT You Know - Weekend Ward Rounds

22-Feb-2019

Medical officers (DiTs) employed in the NSW Health system may be required to do weekend ward rounds outside their ordinary hours of work, often correlating with the on-call roster.

The Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award 2018, which sets out the legally enforceable conditions of employment for DiTs mandates that a medical officer must be paid for all time worked at the appropriate overtime rate, with a minimum of four hours at that overtime rate. This includes all time worked doing weekend ward rounds outside the ordinary hours of work.

The relevant provisions of the Award are at Clauses 6 & 12.

If you want to know more about this entitlement, or if you haven’t been paid correctly then contact the Union on 9212 6900, or at allocation@asmof.org.au
