Inquiry into access block: join the working group
The crisis in our hospitals will be the subject of a new NSW Parliamentary Inquiry which has been set up to investigate ambulance ramping, access block, and the pressures currently facing EDs.
Labor's Greg Donnelly announced the upper house inquiry on Wednesday and the terms of reference include:
- how ambulance ramping and access block impacts on patients, paramedics, emergency department and other hospital staff;
- the effectiveness of current measures being undertaken by NSW Health to address ambulance ramping, access block and emergency department delays;
- strategies, initiatives and actions that NSW Health should consider to address the impact of access block
We know our members have a lot of insight to offer on these important issues and will be setting up a Working Group led by ASMOF Emergency Medicine Councillors Dr Gabriel Lau, Dr Liz Swinburne and Dr Tony Joseph to guide ASMOF’s submission and representations to the Committee.
With submissions due on September 11, we plan to meet in the next fortnight so please email [email protected] by the end of the week if you are interested in joining.
