Wages Policy 2022
The NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet has released the latest
NSW Public Sector Wages Policy 2022
, replacing the August 2021 Memorandum.
The Policy locks in previously announced changes including an increase to the cap from 2.5% to 3.5% for FY2022 - FY2024. The wage ceiling includes a 0.5% increase (per annum) which may be added to an employee's salary subject to approval by the Senior Officials Wages Advisory Committee (SOWAC) or the Expenditures Review Committee of Cabinet (ERCC).
Both SOWAC and the ERCC must determine that the applicant for the additional salary increase has demonstrated a "substantial employee contribution... to productivity enhancing reforms agreed to by the employer." The new Policy comes amidst Treasurer Jim Chalmers' projection for inflation to hit 7.75% in the December quarter.
